What is a chalk talk Elementary School?
Chalk Talk is a silent way to reflect, generate ideas, check on learning, develop projects, or solve problems. It can be used productively with any group—students, faculty, workshop participants, committees.
A chalk talk describes the candidate's research vision of what he/she hopes to achieve in the next 6–10 years. Some search committees expect a description of the first grant application (e.g., a National Institutes of Health R01). Prepare to discuss both.
A Chalk Talk is a written protocol in which students respond in writing, in a central place (such as a piece of chart paper), to an important, open-ended question—silently. It is a way to promote discussion and awareness of issues, perspectives, or academic challenges and to demonstrate knowledge of a topic.
